2021 Tile trends
2021 Tile Trends
Tile, Tiles and more Tiles
Choosing a tile for your bathroom is not so simple.
Tiles are the ideal material for a bathroom environment being strong, moisture-resistant, reliable, heat-resistant and durable for wall cladding in a room with a unique microclimate.
There are so many different designs in form, colour and texture that you can get lost in the choice.
That’s why manufacturers have expanded their choices to provide truly unique styles for bathroom linings. They focus on patterns, colours, shapes and tile configurations. Here are a few of the trends flowing into 2021.
Graphic Pattern
The popularity of patterned tiles continues to grow. From metro tiles to patterned ceramics, it’s safe to say that graphic tiles can be anywhere. This style really gives homeowners the opportunity to use their creative imagination.
Matt tiles
Matt tiles have a soft but powerful style that doesn’t look too overwhelming, unlike glossy ceramics. The advantage of dullness is that water stains do not remain on it, as on a glossy one, on which the smallest spots are visible. This makes them ideal for flooring in the bathroom, especially in large bathrooms. Haze makes them easier to maintain. When laying tiles with a matt finish, make sure that there is enough light, both natural and artificial, as they do not reflect light.
Glossy finishes give the bathroom a more dramatic effect. They tend to create an elegant, highly polished appearance. That is why gloss is still popular. Glossy tiles are especially good for small bathrooms, as they tend to reflect a lot of light and create a sense of space that is larger than it seems. But since they need additional maintenance work and are dangerous to slip, glossy tiles are often used on walls or floors in a bathroom with little traffic.
Neutral
Modern design makes extensive use of neutral colours, and this remains the topic for 2021 bathroom tile trends. Bright colours such as blue, red and yellow are not common in the bathroom and will not become a bright star in the near future. Instead, homeowners are increasingly falling in love with neutrals and especially light neutrals such as grey and cream. Gray and beige have become very popular as extra neutral.
For bathrooms that need a bit more brightness, white is perfect. The bathroom is designed for relaxation, and these colours enhance this atmosphere. Being neutral, they allow you to relax, creating a quiet place.
Textured finish
Add variation, colour depth and surface interest to any area of the bathroom by adding textured tiles. Textures may appear thin or pronounced depending on the material used, the applied finish and the desired colour.
Three-dimensional tiles can inspire anything from sensation to an object or place. But when everything is said and done, it is usually considered a work of art. This category is presented in all kinds of shapes, sizes and styles, which can be combined into endless combinations for a one-of-a-kind space.
Cranleigh Bathroom Studios has a wide range of all tiles to meet any requirements for your bathroom. We are also here to advise and inspire you to either add or change the tiles in your bathroom.

2021 Could It Be The Year For Adding Colour?
We all hope 2021 will be a brighter year and what better place to start than with a refresh of colour in your bathroom?
2021 could it be the year for adding colour?
New year, new colour trends!
We all hope 2021 will be a brighter year and what better place to start than with a refresh of colour in your bathroom?
For those who are looking for inspiration, here are some ideas based on today's colour trends.
Start by choosing your favourite colours which evoke emotions and atmosphere in your bathroom . Consider carefully as, for example, yellow can be a great stimulant for one person, but something completely crazy for others. You may have read about how certain colours are “warm” (like reds, oranges and yellows) and other colours are “cool” (like blues, many purples and a lot of greens). However in practice, any colour that makes you happy can make a space feel more warm, and a dose of colour of almost any kind can make a space feel more welcoming.
Take a look at your favourite colours in daylight and artificial light. Soft blues and greens can look slightly sad with incandescent light. Sometimes it is useful to correct the colour with fluorescent lighting.
Black walls and white accents create an elegant, clean looking bathroom.
IGrey and white marble is set to be in the popular bathroom trends of 2021. It is timeless, as traditional and classic interiors easily move to modern design schemes. If you use these shades in the bathroom, you will achieve an environment that will emanate luxury and relaxation.
If grey and neutral aren't your thing then maybe adding colour is.
In terms of colour, there is no particular trend that stands out. However, we can divide the design choices into two styles: the simple and sober ones and the more dramatic ones. The simple trends involve the use of pastel colours, earth colours or neutral and light veins.
There are no rules when it comes to colours in a bathroom, but there are trends. Pink or peach colours look great combined with green tones. Green contrasts with wood tones and is a versatile option.
Saturated tones, metallic accents and glossy woodwork create an enticingly luxurious space for long soaks.
Whether you prefer gleaming tiles and sleek glass or the warm tactility of natural wood, there’s more than one way to create a beautiful bathroom. With deep, rich tones for the ultimate escape and the softest lived-in neutrals for a spa-like space, these enticing bathroom schemes offer something for everyone.

Colour is a very personal and individual thing. At Cranleigh bathroom studios we offer a personal service and are here to help you make the best choice for you and your bathroom. This personal service is not something you get from the internet;it needs that professional touch!

How To Spring Clean Your Bathroom In 2020
How clean is your bathroom? According to recent research, your bathroom may be home to more germs than you think!
OK it’s that time of the year - how’s your bathroom looking? is it looking immaculately clean or is it showing signs of winter use with grime and scale around the edges?
How clean is your bathroom? According to recent research, your bathroom may be home to more germs than you think!
The average plughole contains 120,000 bacteria per square inch.
Your bathroom floor has about 764 bacteria per square inch.
A bathroom counter top is home to 452 bacteria per square inch.
The bathroom sink could be harbouring 2,733 bacteria per square inch.
The humble light switch may contain up to 217 bacteria per square inch.
But here at Cranleigh Bathroom Studios, we’re here to help, with a guide to keeping that bathroom sparkling for ever more.
Ventilation
Extractor fans are a more well known way of taking care of a bathroom. They provide ventilation to avoid condensation from steam, preventing mould and damp forming which can cause health problems for your family. However, although many people have extractor fans installed, they may not use them if they are noisy and disruptive. EnviroVent Silent 100T is a highly rated extractor fan, quiet and effective, so you can enjoy your new bathroom in peace whilst knowing it’s being taken care of.
Scale
This can be a big problem in a lot of peoples bathrooms and can affect taps and shower valves. An effective way of removing hard water scale is by removing the cartridges and dipping them in a white vinegar and water mix for 20 minutes. Thermostatic shower valves can also be affected, but luckily the same method applies. Clean the wax cartridge with the vinegar and water mix, then re-insert and re-calibrate as per the manufacturer's instructions.
It goes without saying that cleaning your bathroom is very important, but some popular and large name brand cleaning products can actually be quite damaging. Highly acidic products such as bleach and other abrasive cleaners can damage bathroom taps, seat hinges etc. Instead, some of the best rated bathroom cleaning products that we recommend are usually light non-abrasive sprays and creams.
Further Ideas
Some other tips for cleaning and caring for your bathroom include daily dusting or sweeping of the floor. It’s easy for dust and hair particles to build up on a bathroom floor and sweeping it daily keeps the bathroom fresh for longer and makes the big whole-bathroom clean a bit easier.
When cleaning, don't forget any towel racks, shelves, baseboards, doors, blinds and window sills, as it’s easy to do but this will just mean dirt and grime builds up over time. Lastly, install a hair-catcher in your drain. Not only does it save you from doing the gruelling task yourself, but when water doesn’t drain properly, it leaves behind an ugly ring around the shower or bath.
So when you spend the money on your dream bathroom, don’t let small and easily-avoidable things take away the shine of a brand new, fresh bathroom. Small tasks like these and spending that extra few minutes on daily cleaning could help your new bathroom last much longer - and will help to protect your family from bacteria and other germs.

Feature walls are making a come back and this year, as Pantone released their Colour Of The Year to be ‘Classic Blue’ - a perfect and fitting colour for a bathroom. Alternatively, if blue doesn’t fit into your ideal bathroom colour scheme, Champagne, light yellow and pumpkin red are also trendy colours this year.
Rainfall shower heads are becoming a popular trend for 2020, bringing a ‘summertime rain’ feel to your shower. They are a more luxurious option and a great subtle upgrade to your bathroom this new year.
The freestanding bathtubs and sinks trend carries over from 2019 to 2020 as a bathroom classic that doesn’t go out of style. They can be made to look modern using stone resin, or more classic with copper, which is why they are such a popular asset to many peoples bathrooms.
Another bathtub related trend for the year is coloured baths. Guaranteed to be the focal point of any bathroom, coloured baths create energy and a more modernistic feel. If you envisage a bolder look for your bathroom, coloured bathtubs could be the way to go.
Brass finishes are another trend that are carrying on into the new year, and one that’s difficult to ever see dropping out of popularity. They are a fantastic way to add an element of luxury and sanctuary, and can be made to create a more classic look with gold, silver or bronze, or a more stylised modern look with rose gold.
Wooden finishes are also a popular pick for 2020, creating a tranquil, calm and naturally luxurious tone for your bathroom, and even more perfect when paired with the trendy freestanding tubs for a spa-like feel.
Integrated lighting is becoming more popular for 2020 and it’s easy to see why. It’s effortless and sleek, not to mention effective and innovative, the perfect way to subtly modernise and upgrade your bathroom.
It’s hard to see high tech pieces ever not being trendy, but in 2020 they are more popular than ever with the increase in smart toilets and their quickly advancing technology. If you want to find out more about smart toilets and what they have to offer, including the ones available at Cranleigh Bathroom Studios, you can read our blog post on them.
2020 Trends For Smart Bathrooms
When it comes to technology in the bathroom, one of the biggest trends in the UK to look out for in 2020 are the rise of the smart toilets.
When it comes to technology in the bathroom, one of the biggest trends in the UK to look out for in 2020 are the rise of the smart toilets.
These are on the rise, but some people are still sceptical about how smart they really are, what they do, and if they’re worth the price. In the most basic terms, smart toilets are advancements in technology that prioritise comfort, ease, hygiene and luxury.
Common Features of Smart Toilets
At Cranleigh Bathroom Studios we have three smart toilets currently available, the Cleanet Riva shower toilet, the Vitra V-care intelligent toilet and the Roca smart toilet and in this blog, we’ll show you some of the benefits and luxuries they offer.
Laufen Cleanet Riva
This smart loo is a hygiene focussed piece of luxury technology encased in a closed ceramic body and a sleek, joint-free, modern design. The ceramic has been treated with dirt-repellent Laufen Clean Coat (LCC), which allows for easy cleaning, and it’s the only shower toilet to have a multi-stage hygiene concept, with a water circulation system that is also thermally cleaned at regular intervals.
The toilet is operated simply by pushing or twisting the stainless steel rotary button at the side.
The features, which include a very strong yet gentle shower jet, a softer lady shower with a separate button, thorough cleaning of the nozzle before and after use, and an LED night light, can be selected and controlled by the touch screen remote control. The Cleanet Riva shows off its revolutionary technology through the different programmable user profiles and the integrated self-cleaning functions with thermal cleaning and automated descaling, as well as the automatic air purifier with active carbon filter. This toilet then performs all this with low energy consumption, which is an incredible added bonus.
Vitra V-Care
The Vitra V-care intelligent toilet provides a contemporary design which is easy to use, touch free and hygienic; the epitome of affordable luxury. It includes washing, drying and air purification options.
The streamlined remote control enables you to use the impressive range of features, like seat opening and closing, adjustable spray, water temperature and drying options, at a simple touch of a button.
It also boasts an integrated spray nozzle with gender specific natural washing alternatives, as well as effortless cleaning and innovative hygienic design with VitrA's rimless WC pan.
Roca In-Wash Inspira
In-Wash® Inspira has been developed by Roca’s designers and engineers, experts on bathroom solutions, that have incorporated the most advanced technology in an accessible and versatile smart toilet to respond to the needs of the most demanding consumers. The Roca smart toilet is best described as comfort and technology combined, with a night light, an integrated control panel, self cleaning nozzle and a soft close lid, that is all enclosed high quality materials that create a sleek, simple design. As well as the main functions of cleaning and drying, the toilet also offers user detection and a range of functions that provide the luxurious aspects, such as adjustable air and water temperature, water pressure and nozzle position. This is all controlled simply with an easy to use remote control that can be mounted onto a wall easily.
Summary
The revolution of smart toilets is worth the hype, with comfort, technology, hygiene and ease coming together to create an essential addition to any bathroom. If you’re interested in any of the toilets mentioned, visit https://www.cranleighbathroomstudios.co.uk for more information.

Minimalism
Minimalism is a timeless style that has been popular for many years. It’s classic features of basic colour, shapes and textures making the contents the focal point to create a sleek, stylish and modern feel. It’s also a very practical use for compact living, without compromising luxury over size. Minimalist style mimics a spa and therefore creates a calming and tranquil mood for your bathroom.
Woodworking
Woodworking in bathrooms is inspired by the traditional style Japanese woodwork. The wood replaces ceramic to exude a warmer tone in the bathroom, enabling a smoother transition between rooms, which is especially useful for houses with ensuites. A wooden theme is clean, modern and a more unique change from the slightly more popular minimalism. This trend gains momentum as earth-tone colours become trendier and homeowners seek a warmer tone in their family bathrooms.
Marble
Marble is a timeless trend that has been popular for years, much like minimalism. It is a beautiful stone which exudes luxury and is an artistic statement in itself. It is fresh and decorative, useful when trying to save money on decorations during a renovation.
Colour and material trends
Earth tones like beige, blond, forest green and charcoal are beginning to replace pinks and coppers. Brass, black and white metals are used more frequently to create a dynamic and trendy expression, whilst traditional Moroccan concrete tiles continue to gain momentum, specifically in peach and blush colours.
Functional trends: Elevated tapware
Elevated tap-ware comes back into fashion for 2020, creating simple silhouettes and elegant, clean and classy tones. Many opt for chrome, brushed nickel and matte black tap-ware to enhance this effect.
Free standing vanities
A smart way to add storage, especially in compact bathrooms, free standing vanities are useful and sleek. They effortlessly blend into the rest of the bathroom without being clunky or in the way and are an easy way to save money during renovation. When paired with a bold colour choice, they can easily be made the focal point of the room.
Task lighting
Lighting is important in creating the right mood in a bathroom, but it is equally as important to ensure there is enough light to function effectively. In 2020, trends suggest that feature lighting, retro styles and playful shades will be a popular choice in many UK bathrooms.
